Application For Approval To Develop The Site
After an IPA has been attained, applicants then prepare and apply for the full detailed approval to develop the site. This application must be received and approved by the appropriate authorities prior to the commencement of any:
– Building, rebuilding, extending or altering the outside of any building;
– Forming or widening of any road or access;
– Earthworks altering the level of the land;
– Destruction of significant vegetation;
– Materially different use of land or building.
– Applicants wanting to carry out building work also need to apply for a Building Permit, to endorse the methods of construction as safe and adequate.
The City Council and DTCP will work closely with the Department of Waterways (Drainage connections) and Fiji Roads Authority as part of this approval. At the same time, DTCP will process the engineering plans (Step 4) of the new development.
Concurrently, applicants must also request for:
– Environment Impact Assessment (Step 2)
– New water and wastewater connections (Step 3) to the site.
The list of building standards highlights the mandatory and other standards which are required in all buildings in Fiji. All owners and developers are recommended to adhere to the standards (Download).
