Application For Structural Fire Safety (New Development Approval)

After Steps 1-4 have been completed, the applicant (developers or owners) may apply for Structure Fire Safety approval from the National Fire Authority (NFA).

In compliance to National Building Code of Fiji under Public health Act, all building plans have to be approved by NFA to meet the minimum requirements (with reference to Australia and New Zealand standards) as follows:
1. Fire resistance and stability
2. Access and egress
3. Fire services and equipment
4. For complex development, a pre-submission concept meeting is available.

– SFS 1: Application for Structural Fire Safety Approval, Inspection and Services (Download)
– SFS 5: Design Certificate of Practicing Structural Engineer for the Fire Safety Elements of a construction (Download)

– SFS 4: Fire Safety Engineering Design Report (Download)
– SFS 6: Peer Review and Check of Design Certificate of Practicing Structural Engineer for Fire Safety. (Download)

1. Certified Fire Engineer Report (in English) (for development of building above $2 mil in value and where sprinkler is required). The engineer must be a certified member of the Institute of Fire Engineers.
